As Phases Go, This Aint Bad

I love this early phase of the novel writing process. The possibilities before me, the discoveries along the way; all so very rewarding and exciting. For me, seeing as how I’m pantsing this zero draft more than I’ve ever pantsed anything before, I’m especially fond of the discoveries. Hell, I just discovered one of my characters that survived book one is ready to step into the shoes of a character that perished, leaving a void to be filled. I had no prior plans to fill this particular void. But sometimes a character stands up to you, the writer, and says, “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me!”

And then I start screaming the lyrics to every Rage Against The Machine song in my memory banks. And that inevitably leads to a rewatch of The Matrix because, yes, I love all three of the original trilogy.

I watched the newest installment and remember liking it okay, but I haven’t revisited it, and the more I think about it, the more I suspect it won’t hold up on a rewatch.

But the original trilogy is outstanding.

Did you know Keanu Reeves donated his salary from the Matrix movies to the special effects artists and stunt performers? And he trained for the first film whilst recovering from spinal surgery on his neck!

What a legend!

What was I talking about?

Oh, Yeah. So I’m in a good phase right now. Anyway…
