OH, TO LOOK UPON

THE FACE OF GAIA

Faye feels strangely at home.

I hope you’re ready to explore a new world and transform a familiar one…

Because I’ve officially begun outlining book two of the MYTHIC series. Outlining, for me, is a fairly chaotic process, usually involving several notebooks full of ideas, scenes, characters, names, places, and much more that I have to sort through, make sense of, and organize into the chronological order of a story. I’m in that process now.

That’s typically followed up by writing a traditional outline with bullet points, Roman numerals, and other outlinish elements. All in an effort to see if the story beats needed are all there and to fill in any gaps I find.

Finally, I’ll bring it home with the use of the snowflake method to write a zero-draft type document, which is really like a 10,000-word concentrated version of what the final novel will eventually be.

I plan to do all of this in the month of December so I can start 2024 writing my first draft of MYTHIC: THE FACE OF GAIA. All in the hopes of publishing in 2025.

“But, Adrian,” you’re shouting. “What about that short story collection you were working on for NaNoWriMo?!”

Yes, that still needs work. I’ve only first-drafted three out of the five stories, and those are very rough. There is still much to do for that project, and it will definitely get done. But it’ll most likely become something I work on when I’m burned out on the novel. I’ll need little breaks throughout that process, but rather than stopping all writing, I’ll pivot over to the collection. I’m going to allow myself to be a little more flexible with how and when those stories come out because if I’m getting the next novel out by 2025, then it needs to take priority ASAP.

Plus, inspiration has struck, and I really have to ride that wave when it swells.

All this to say that, in the words of legendary Robin Hood, (the one in tights,) “there’s much to do, and less time to do it in.”

I’ll keep you posted, but just know, I’m super excited!
